1. Intent With Concept

Everyone complains about never having enough pack space. Turbine has done a little to allieviate this issue by introducing both Housing Storage and increasing the stack limits of components, pyreals, and golem keys. Still, that is not enough for some. The intention with this concept is to allow players to have access to extra pack space, at the cost of their own attack and defense.

2. Quest Content/Lore

Originally, I had planned this following items to be fairly easy to obtain and allow all users to gain access to this benefit. This revision sees some slight changes to this idea, mostly in making these items more difficult to come by.

Spertat the Ursuin Hunter has been one of the many lamenting over the lack of space. He just can't find enough room to store all the hides he collects.

3. Leather Travel Satchel

Spertat the Ursuin Hunter, found regularly in the northern realms of Osteth has improvised a crude pack. While no master crafter himself, merely a trapper, he has had to make due with what he had at hand, that chiefly being left over leather and hides.

So proud of his accomplishment is he, that he offers to sell you one for a price [which is, of course, a large mark-up from what he will buy them back at].

4. Anadil's Satchel

Of course... if that isn't good enough for some people, a quest travel pack is required. Something I am keen on is exploration, so lets make it easier to explore the world with it as well eh? But where would such a marvelous item be found? My vote goes for the crypt of Anadil of Shakrassekor. After the Sand King's corpse was laid to rest in his tomb in the South Dires, his loyal followers continued to gather his prize possessions and place them with their former owner. The Nomads guarding Anadil's Tomb will rarely drop a piece of parchment title "Sand King's Treasury".

You are unable to read the note itself, and it cannot be translated except for one word- Saelar. Saelar is one of the Undead Historians near Samsur that collects the Mnemosynes of his people to remember their past. Present to him the "Sand King Treasury" and he will give you an Unfashioned Satchel.

The Satchel must then be brought with you back to the Tomb of Anadil. Enter Anadil's Tomb and open his grave and retrieve the Staff of the Nomads. Use the Unfashioned Satchel on the staff and recieve Anadil's Satchel. Be aware however, that it will instantly equip and cause whatever item you had equipped to move back into inventory. [note: it is to my understanding that obtaining the Staff of the Nomads is a one time only deal, so those that have already done so will not be able to pick up a second].

This Magically enchanted pack glistens with the dew of the Ithaenec jungle. Surprisingly, carrying it with all its burdensome items feels less lethargic.

This Item becomes automatically equipped when placed in your inventory. Items currently equipped are moved to your main backpack.

Cannot enter combat mode while this item is equipped.

Holds up to 18 items.

Casts the following:

  • Quickness Self V
  • Armor Self IV
  • Sprint Self V

5. Quest Conclusion

You will only be allowed to have one Satchel on you at a time. If you attempt to purchase a second Leather Satchel, the sale will fail.

Both types of Satchels will automatically equip and will not be able to be unequipped unless removed from your inventory. You cannot enter combat mode while wielding a Satchel.

Both types of Satchels are droppable/giveable. The "Sand King's Treasury" Note is one time only. You can only recieve one per character ever [this also makes it so you can only recieve one of Anadil's Satchels per character ever as well].

The Unfashioned Satchel is No Drop/Give and cannot be lost on death. It must either be fashioned into Anadil's Satchel or be discarded to a town crier in order to remove it from your inventory.

Thus ends Lao's House of Ideas: Anadil's Satchel. I hope you enjoyed it and look forward to reading all current and future quests.
